They employ a talented and highly educated international team of people. Very much along those lines, they are now hiring a Product Documentation Specialist, which is a critical role as the company enters a brand new stage of product innovation, market reach and global success.
The OpportunityI am seeking a client-focused, experienced technical documenter to join my client's team, based in Sydney. The clear remit for this position is to effectively empower their customer base with effective tools and information that meets theirs self-service requirements. Given this, the successful candidate should expect their clear responsibilities to include:
- Create, migrate, maintain, enhance, manage and publish a library of end user documentation, end user training material, FAQs and glossaries, instruction videos, software release notes, technical documentation, product update bulletins, install/upgrade guides and online help.
- Develop multiple professional presentation output formats consistent with the corporate style guide, using technical documentation software.
- Liaise with relevant colleagues (devs, release and project managers, and quantitative finance specialists) to produce robust, complete and accurate documentation and media.
A practical approach to documentation is required – along with mastery of both content creation and presentation. You will have a professional approach to the job and your colleagues. Your experience includes team-based development as well as individual projects. You will have a solid technical background, be able to work independently and have a keen interest to learn.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent written skills in English, honed across 4-5 years of experience in documenting technical software
- Experience working with and configuring technical content authoring tools and experience with technical documentation software (e.g. Madcap Flare)
- Expertise in creation of printed, electronic (PDF) and web-based content, ideally working with technical SMEs
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in a multitude of media
- Qualifications in a technical discipline (Maths, Quantitative Finance or Computer Science) will be a serious advantage, as will be working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence
